Identity
I purchased this gemstone at the Rathnapura gem market, near the Clock Tower Square, Sri Lanka (2024). This violet rhodolite garnet is crossed by a pale linear inclusion that divides the stone into distinct shades of pink and violet. The interplay of pink and violet creates a soft, almost painterly gradient. This gemstone is named “Черника” (Chernika), the Russian word for “bilberry.”
